TELEGRAM: STOP PLATFORMING TERRORISTS

The messaging app Telegram was the most downloaded app globally at the beginning of 2021. The popular app is also being used by far right networks and is home to the most extreme, genocidal and directly violent antisemitic content.

Sign our open letter to Telegram, in partnership with a coalition of Jewish organisations and allies: 

Dear Telegram,

Your commitment to secrecy and minimal moderation has lowered the hurdle for engaging in antisemitism, and has enabled extremist networks to propagandise, network and recruit increasingly young members on your platform.

Since its founding in 2013, Telegram has strongly emphasised privacy, with founder Pavel Durov once claiming that “our right for privacy is more important than our fear of bad things happening, like terrorism”. We are calling on Telegram to be consistent and take serious action for the terrorist content still on its platform that is putting Jewish and other minoritised communities at risk.
